Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)This study is about improving mobility – the ability to move people and goods – in the northwestern part of Versailles. The study is needed because traffic congestion has increased and continues to increase within the community. This is particularly problematic in downtown Versailles, where trucks and school buses contribute to the congestion problem, and in certain neighborhoods experiencing growth in cut-through traffic as drivers attempt to avoid congested areas. Why is the study needed?Quality of life is highly valued in Versailles and Woodford County, yet growth has created some challenging transportation issues. These issues, including mobility, must be addressed if this prized quality of life is to be maintained. Who is conducting the study? The study is being conducted by the City of Versailles through funding provided by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The City has retained a consultant team, led by ENTRAN, PLC (www.entran.us ), a local transportation firm, and including EHI Consultants (www.ehiconsultants,org), Community Decisions, LLC (www.communitydecisions.com), and The Corradino Group (www.corradino.com). What about public involvement?Public involvement is being integrated through a two-tiered process. A study Steering Committee has been assembled that serves as a representative cross-section of the community. Steering Committee members include: Mr. Bruce Bailey, Kentucky Community and Technical College System The Steering Committee will provide input and guidance to the consultant team, as well as critical feedback on proposed strategies to improve mobility. The study also will include three (3) public meetings in which information about the project and proposed solutions will be presented and public input will be sought. Public Meeting Schedule
About the Study
Candidate Mobility Solutions
Effectiveness of Candidate Mobility Solutions What will be the result of the study? This study will result in a recommended plan of mobility solutions and strategies. Recommendations could include capital projects (such as new routes or improvements to existing routes), spot improvements to improve congestion and safety, or recommended strategies to improve system efficiency and/or manage travel demand. Recommended solutions do not signify a commitment, but rather serve as a starting point for improving mobility through a comprehensive plan of solutions and strategies. Implementation of individual projects will be the responsibility of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the City of Versailles, or the Woodford Fiscal Court. How can I be involved?Public input is critical to this study. We encourage everyone to attend and participate in the public meetings and will make every effort to disseminate information about individual meeting dates, times and locations. Also, we encourage everyone to monitor this Web site to obtain the most up-to-date information about the project. |
